My Mom said…

18 May

One thing that I love about my job is that I am still able to see the kids that I taught last year.

I see them in the hallway, going out for playtime and when they are leaving to go home.

I love getting to hug them. I love hearing them scream my name. I love acting like my arms are swords and fighting with my boys from last year.

Yesterday as they were leaving to go home, one of my girls from last year stopped me.

Julie had some questions for me.

Julie: Ms. Mallory do you teach High School?

Me: Yes, I do.

Julie: Wow. My mom was asking me to ask you.

Me: Yes. I have a lot of jobs. I teach Toddlers, I listen to EEE and I teach High School. Maybe if Mrs. Lauren is sick, I will teach your class.

Julie: Oh yay! My mom was looking at your picture on the poster.

Me: Oh yes, it is the same as last year.

Julie: My mom said that you were fat last year but you are not fat anymore.

Me: Oh thank you!

What a complement and an insult at the same time. O.0

Something to tuck into my memory: If you have an 8-year-old, be careful what you say about their teacher because they will most likely tell them.
